Norris Man & Teacha Dee Confirmed for the 2017 Aarhus Reggae Festival
On September 29th and 30th, Jam Link Intl. will host the 3rd annual Aarhus Reggae Festival at Voxhall (Vester Allé 15, 8000) in Aarhus, Denmark. As they’ve done previously, day one, the 29th, will be dedicated to the dancehall culture, while day two, the 30th, will focus more on the ever growing reggae scene.
This year’s theme will be on “the foundation of Jamaican music.” That being said, unlike other festivals, the 2017 Aarhus Reggae Fest will be centered on the sound system tradition. What this means is that, as was customary in the early days at Jamaican parties and stage shows, all artists will be supported by a selector behind a turntable spinning the rhythm on vinyls.
So far the organizers have confirmed long time reggae sensation Norris Man and Jamaican born, Germany based, reggae star, Teacha Dee. Additionally, they have added Donna Marie, Omar Perry and several others. The full line up will be announced shortly. The popular brand Reggae Grill, which is known for their amazing Jamaican cuisine, will be on hand cooking up their famous reggae burgers. There will also be reggae inspired art on display by Vogel Arts.
Teacha Dee releases “Rastafari Way” album today

Rastafari Way album cover
Teacha Dee has teamed up with House Of Riddim out of Austria, Giddimani Records based in the United States, Greezzly Productions from Italy, Boomrush Productions from Germany and Evidence Music out of Switzerland to drop what is dubbed his “debut” album today.
This 13 track album titled “Rastafari Way”, has edged away the “Debut Album” title away from ” Reggae Souljahs: Beating Babylon with Music”. This was mainly because “Reggae Souljahs” was more a compilation of released singles than a complete album when it was released in 2011.
Rastafari Way opened todays sales by holding the number 4 spot on Hungary’s Itunes Charts for several hours as digital shops open. The album has been available for pre-order since February 28th and may have racked up some serious numbers for the 16 days before official release.

The cold creativity of “Jah Jah is calling”
Teacha Dee’s most successful song of recent times has been a single released by House of Riddim and Kathmandu productions entitled “Jah Jah Is Calling”. The combined efforts of the Pac Man Riddim megamix which was officially released on YouTube and the music video within a few days has made this single a resounding success.
Shooting challenges
The blistering cold of late January, offered no support for the one man production team and his limited equipment. The video was shot over two days with an average temperature between 5 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius. The windchill factor coupled with poor natural lighting and sporadic rainfall, were just a few of the challenges that mother nature presented the one man production team.
The trees in the background stood almost lifeless with the exception of a few evergreens scattered around the park. Dressed in a full winter gear, Teacha Dee was out in the cold trying to produce a music video within ten days of the projected release date. When asked about the gloves and the thermal jacket, he stated that they were compulsory to avoid serious health problems. In some places there was still ice on the ground.
Choosing a location
The single location chosen for this video, has more significance than what meets the eye. “This monument was erected in honor of Martin Luther, who was the first person to successfully expose the evils of the papacy. He was a professor of theology and a composer too,” Teacha Dee said with a huge smile.
At first glance, the video seemed to be lacking in scenes. The angles of the monument offered only a slight panoramic view. There were statues of men pondering reality, as well as others with crucifix and Bibles. They seemed to visually fit the message of the song, yet they were not the focus of the video. This monument is called “The Luther Platz” and it is located in Worms, Germany.
When asked about the overall composition of the video he stated.
“I wanted to highlight the story of Martin Luther. This story was never taught to me in the west. I knew nothing of this great battle between man and the abusive powers hidden in religion.”
Editing, Shooting and Colouring
As an audio engineer, video editing was not something Teacha Dee was fully knowledgeable about before “Jah Jah is calling”. He revealed that he studied video editing for several hours by watching tutorials on YouTube. “This video was done with final cut only. I had some experience with Vegas Video but nothing professional,” He stated.
This project lead him to undertake some serious studies in video colouring and editing which never benefited “Jah Jah is calling” but another video released a few weeks after called ” Traffic Light Dread ” which he also captured, cut, edited and coloured.
Not a new song?
When asked about a comment made by a YouTube user that the song was not a new song Teacha Dee replied.
” At the time when i recorded this song, i had no idea there were other songs with the same name nor did i hear any of them. I am not surprised though. This is a fundamental message of reggae music and i expect to see many more with a similar message in the future. We all need to get back to righteousness”.
Currently “Jah Jah is calling” has spent three months on YouTube and has received over 76 thousand clicks. You can view it by clicking the image above or by clicking here.
